Curriculum refers to the knowledge and skills students are expected to learn that are aligned with standards, from which strategically planned units and lessons are taught. The foundation of AISJ’s content areas follow the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Common Core Plus standards, a widely used international set of rigorous standards.
From the early childhood program to the AP Certification program, our teachers employ engaging, research-based instructional methodologies in order to give our students the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that will enable them to take their places as leaders in the 21st century.
AISJ purposefully works as a collaborative team to develop each content area’s curriculum by using organizational tools such as Rubicon Atlas in order vertically and horizontally align curriculum. In order to ensure a high-quality dynamic and aligned curriculum, AISJ has established a Curriculum Review process, and each subject area is examined in depth once every 5 years on an ongoing basis.
Periodic assessments are used to identify if students are meetingthe curriculum standards. AISJ currently uses three standards-based assessment tools to identify each student’s academic achievement:
The data retrieved from these assessments are routinely reviewed in order to assist students in reaching academic goals.
