Student life at AISJ revolves around the many opportunities that students have to widen their knowledge and experiences through activities that extend and promote the learning that takes place in the classroom. Students are able to engage in authentic learning that revolves around their personal interests through a variety of clubs and organizations.
There are numerous opportunities for students to be involved in drama by auditioning for a part in a play or musical theater production, signing up to help back stage or in other areas of production behind the curtain such as make-up, costumes, props, scenery, light crew, sound crew and stage crew.
For the non-dramatic, there are other performance opportunities through the Spoken Word Poetry club, as well as talent showcases like Bohemian Night and the Annual Talent Show.
For our student athletes, AISJ is a member school in three different leagues and our teams are able to compete regional (Jeddah and Yanbu) in the Red Sea Athletics Conference (RSAC), within the Kingdom in the Saudi Arabian Intra-Kingdom Activities Conference (SAIKAC) and internationally in the Oasis Activities Conference (OAC).
Off the stage and off the court AISJ offers students a multitude of leadership opportunities within the club structure and of course through organizations like Student Council and the National Honors Society. Student involvement in school-wide decision-making is also available through participation on the Honor Council, the High School Senate, the High School Week Without Walls committee, and other school-wide committees related to Strategic Planning and school improvement.
Service to others is a big initiative at AISJ and many of the student interest groups and clubs focus their work on helping those less fortunate than us or on promoting responsible use of resources and caring for our environment. Clubs like GBAC do their work close to home with area orphanages and outreach centers while clubs like Build Africa and OutGrow are reaching out and providing help internationally to aid cancer research and education for the impoverished.
There is certainly no shortage of things to do at AISJ and listed here are some of the more popular options.
