Advanced Placement at AISJ is a sequence, not a leap: Pre-AP preparation first, then rigorous college-level AP coursework across Grades 9-12, and, for scholars who go the distance, the AP Capstone Diploma, earned through AP Research, AP Seminar, and four additional AP courses.
The pathway
Pre-AP preparation across five disciplines
Pre-AP courses prepare scholars for the demands of college-level work. Pre-AP builds the working skills (literacy, quantitative reasoning, analysis) across five disciplines: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Arts.
College-level coursework in high school
AP courses follow college-level syllabi, are examined to a global standard, and are recognized by universities worldwide.
AP Capstone Diploma with AP Seminar and AP Research
AISJ scholars can complete the AP Capstone Diploma program by succeeding in AP Research, AP Seminar, and four other AP courses with qualifying scores.
AP International Diploma (APID)
The AP International Diploma (APID) sits alongside AP Capstone as a second credential pathway: a way to deepen and extend the core AISJ curriculum, not replace it.
Transcript planning with College and Career Guidance
Scholars meet regularly with College and Career Guidance to plan AP subjects and electives around the admission policies of the universities they are considering.
