AISJ teaches a standards-based American international education built on American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards. The curriculum draws on established frameworks: Understanding by Design, Rubicon Atlas curriculum mapping, a regular review cycle, and assessment data that informs instruction.
Three frameworks
AERO Standards
American Education Reaches Out standards. AISJ provides a standards-based American international education based on American Education Reaches Out (AERO), a rigorous standards set from the U.S. Department of State.
Understanding by Design
Enduring understandings and transferable skills. The curriculum is organized in the Understanding by Design framework, prioritizing enduring understandings and transferable skills so scholars can transfer learning to new contexts.
Rubicon Atlas
Pre-K–12 curriculum mapping. AISJ uses Rubicon Atlas curriculum mapping software and shares a public Pre‑K–12 standards-based curriculum overview through the Rubicon Atlas site.
