The middle school years are a time of rapid growth, and we design our program around them.
AISJ's answer starts with relationships: adults who notice, an advisory program that practices responsibility, reflection, and integrity out loud, and teaching grounded in evidence rather than habit. The same restless energy that makes grades 6-8 famous gets pointed at the Innovation Lab: at robots, real problems, and the ethics of AI.

Program priorities
Community
A community that notices. The stated standard is plain: every scholar loved, valued, and inspired to think big. At this age that is the working condition for learning, because scholars who feel valued engage more fully.
Development
Academic, social, and emotional growth. Instruction is grounded in evidence-based strategies, chosen because they work, not because they are familiar, and treats social and emotional development as part of the academic job, not a sideline.
Advisory habits
A rehearsal for young adulthood. These years are a transition, and AISJ treats them like one. Scholars practice the parts that matter (teamwork, personal responsibility, academic integrity, community awareness, and social justice) while the stakes are still forgiving.
Innovation
Ethical AI and the Innovation Lab. The Innovation Lab gives middle school energy a productive outlet: hands-on problem solving and a working introduction to AI, including the harder question of when and how it should be used.
