Elementary School Welcome

Dear Elementary School Parent,

Welcome to a new year of learning.  The staff, Danielle and I are looking forward to spending this school year with you and your children.   As always, we are committed to making it a safe and caring place to learn with a little bit of laughter and fun thrown in.

Throughout the school year, there will be many activities that will keep you and your children busy.  Please watch for regular emails from me as well as your child's teacher.  Schoology is a Learning Management System we use school-wide to communicate with parents.  Teachers will be using Schoology to inform you about homework, important dates or announcements and what is being taught in the classroom. Your child’s teacher will send you specific instructions on how to login to Schoology so you are a part of your child’s learning.

AISJ is special in that we are a community who care for each other and want to see each other succeed.  Teachers, parents and administrators work together to ensure each child is happy and successful during their time at our school.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.  You may make an appointment with your child’s classroom teacher, the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Chamberlin, or the me, the ES Principal, via Ms. Farida Jaber at 012 662 0051.

Some important things to remember::

  • If your child will be purchasing lunch from the cafeteria, he/she will use the school ID card. We do not encourage you to send money to school each day but ask that you put money on your child's account by visiting the business office.   Balances can be checked throughout the year via your parent Renweb account.   You can also view the items your child purchased from the cafeteria.  Please take time to discuss with your children the importance of a balanced, healthy lunch.
  • The school day starts promptly at 8:00 AM.  Please adjust your schedules to ensure that your children arrive before the 8:00 bell.  Children are more relaxed and ready to start the day when they arrive to school on time.
  • Upon arrival, children are directed either to the EC playground (PreK 3, PreK4 and KG students) or the main playground (grade 1 - grade 5 students) where there is adult supervision.  We ask parents to drop their children off at the gate or the entrance to the playground.
  • The PreK 3, PreK4 and KG students will dismiss at 12:00 the first two weeks of school.  Starting on September 4th, PreK3, PreK4 and KG students will dismiss at 1:00.  After the Hajj break, KG students will dismiss at 2:45 and PreK students at 2:00.  Starting on the first day of school, First Grade to Fifth Grade students dismiss at 3:00.
  • Tuesdays are early release days to provide teachers time to work on important school initiatives.  Students in PreK 3 and PreK4 dismiss at 1:00, KG students dismiss at 1:45 and all other grades dismiss at 2:00 on Tuesdays.
  • Uniforms are to be worn at school at all times.  Students may wear the old logo shirts this year or may purchase the new logo shirts from the uniform shop by the Illy Cafe.  Uniforms will be on sale at the ES reception area after 8:30 AM or after 2:30 PM starting on September 4th.  Black, navy or khaki shorts or pants may be worn with the AISJ red polo shirt.  Shorts must extend to the knees.  Shoes should be appropriate for elementary activities; athletic shoes are the best.  Sandals must be closed toed and have an ankle strap.  Flip flops, crocs or Zorries are not permitted.

We are looking forward to the coming year and working with each of you to ensure the best educational experience for your children.  Best wishes for a successful year!

Yours in learning,
